Where I’m Going

I started this website to have a place to put my work. And since I started this website I failed to do the one thing I’m most passionate about, and that is use film. I’m a photographer but am first and foremost a film photographer. I love black and white photography. But one thing that is largely missing on this site are my film photos. Some are up but it’s mainly digital color photography. And the reason for that is that I lost my way. life’s been getting me down and I’ve hardly spent time on my projects or hobbies. and film is the one thing I haven’t touched in months. I’ve been to many beautiful places without film. While I got many beautiful photos especially of plants and flowers, I kept putting off using my film cameras. Just like I’ve been putting off reading, or playing my guitar. The hardest thing for me is to feel what I’m doing is meaningful, is original, is real. But today I held my film camera for the first time in a while and it just felt right, more than my digital camera. I have rolls of film from a year ago I haven’t developed yet and unused rolls waiting to be used. and all I can think is, I need more film. I’ve been working on my large format camera, and while that has been moving at a snails pace and I’ll talk about it more in the future, I’m more than eager to just get out and take a photo on film. and hopefully soon this sight will look a little less colorful but just as beautiful.
